Am I still Catholic?

I grew up Catholic and attended a Catholic school for 8 years. They say your beliefs are formed by the age of 9. So I would have many Catholic beliefs.

I also know you can change beliefs when they don’t serve you.

So where am I now on this journey of Eternal Life?

“Catholic beliefs are primarily outlined in the Nicene Creed, which affirms faith in one God, Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit, along with the belief in the Church as “one, holy, catholic and apostolic.” Key practices include the sacraments, such as Baptism and the Eucharist, and adherence to teachings on morality and social justice.”

One God
Jesus Christ as the Son of God
- Jesus went to heaven.
- Believing in Jesus does not block people from going to heaven.
The Holy Spirit lives within us, we need to stay connect to God/Loving-Kindness
One, holy, catholic and apostolic. ( I believe that we can become connected to One God & each other )
- I believe some Catholics, some Jews, and some others around the world go to heaven.
- Heaven/God/Loving-kindness/Righteousness is what unites us.

Sacraments

Baptism: (I believe babies are born connected to God. Baptism allows the parents to welcome the child into the family and faith… the goal would be to help the child to grow, learn not to sin, know they are worthy, how to resist temptations, renew mind, etc.)
- I disagree that babies were born sinners, I know they are in heaven. I could see this as they are born with the same struggle each person has to choose to do good or to sin. We can learn to choose good. We can also learn to focus on beliefs that we are worthy and not sinners… don’t take on the suffering sinner identity. Or release that identity if that is what you learned and replace it with empowering beliefs.
Eucharist: Thanksgiving and communion
- connecting to the God’s family (body) and God’s word (blood line)`
Reconciliation: Confession & Forgiveness
- As an adult I have done a lot of work to change limiting beliefs that I learned
- I pray daily on being worthy, food enough, renewing my mind, “do not sin”, etc
- Catholics are blessed to learn this practice, and may need to do some additional work to change beliefs.
Confirmation: Young adults and new Catholic adults choose the Catholic Church and the Holy Spirit
- As an adult I learned to pray, read, study the bible to stay connected with God
- Your actions matter too.

Lessons Learned

I am of the Line of David (in the Bible)
I do not follow a Kosher diet.
I do not cover my head (unless I need to becaus of the weather, sun, etc)
I do not know Hebrew.
- It is important to pray, read, learn in the language that you dream in.
- Saving souls
I look for the light and follow it the best that I can.
I believe in eternal life, going to heaven, and rising spiritually in another body.
I believe in heaven and hell (although these may not be how some have described)
I believe the Bible can help people to live better lives and go to heaven.
